Where a seller’s own photograph is not available to us, a car is shown with an example photograph of its model, marked “Example photo”. It shows the model, not the car for sale: the colour, trim and condition of the car itself are on the seller’s page.
Every example photograph is a freely licensed photograph from Wikimedia Commons, credited on these pages to its author under its licence. We have resized and cropped them to fit our cards; the originals, at full size, are at each link. A photograph under a CC BY-SA licence is shared under that same licence in its resized form.
If one of these is your photograph and you would rather we did not show it, write to the address on the page for website owners and we will take it down.
Place names and postcodes
The towns and postcodes the search offers under “Near”, and the distances it shows, come from GeoNames, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. We hold a copy of their postcode and town files on our own servers, so a search by place asks nobody else. A car is placed at the centre of the postcode or town its seller gives, so a distance is approximate, and a car whose seller gives neither is not placed at all.
