How it works

Looking for a car often means searching one site at a time, with each one showing only a slice of what is out there. AttractCars brings those listings into one independent index: search once, see what exists, then go straight to whoever is selling.

Search and direct seller adverts

We never handle the sale, never sit between you and the seller, and never hide who is selling. Clicking a result takes you to the original listing on the seller’s own site. Sellers can also submit their own adverts directly, which are labelled separately and have their own contact details.

It also means we have no incentive to keep you here. A marketplace makes money when a car sells through it, which is why marketplaces prefer you not to see the ones that do not. We are useful exactly to the degree that we show you everything.

Where the listings come from

We find and read listings ourselves, preferring the dealer’s own website over a marketplace copy — it is fresher, more complete, and it means no single site can switch us off. We build the whole path ourselves: finding sources, deciding whether we are allowed to read them, crawling politely, extracting the facts, normalising them across a dozen languages, and working out when two listings are the same car.

We do not buy inventory from an aggregator or depend on anybody’s API. If a large site blocks us tomorrow, we go to the dealers who published those cars in the first place.

We read only what sites permit. We honour robots.txt and mining reservations, we rate-limit ourselves, and we never work around a login, a paywall or a bot block. The full policy is on our crawler page.

What we try to be good at

  • Actually still for sale. Every listing is re-checked on a schedule, and results show when we last looked. Listings that have gone leave the index on their own.
  • One car, counted once. The same car advertised in three places is one car. We resolve duplicates rather than padding results with them.
  • Honest about what we do not know. A field we could not read is shown as absent, not filled with an average. A price comparison appears only when there is a real comparison set behind it, and it says how large that set is.
  • Fast, and light. Pages are rendered on the server, so they arrive complete rather than waiting for scripts to build them. Search and its filters are plain forms that work with JavaScript turned off, and every search is a URL you can share.

What we are not doing

No in-site messaging, financing, payment processing, lead selling, no valuations dressed up as facts. Optional passwordless accounts let sellers manage their own adverts. Browsing the index and saving favourites on your device still need no account.

Who we are

AttractCars is built by Attractor Oy in Finland. It is the first of what we intend to be an independent search layer for things that are for sale — but cars first, and properly.

If you run a website we read, start here. If you want to know exactly what our coverage number means, we wrote that down too.
